GREEN Cluster:  The Voice of the Child

This cluster is the home to all our off-record voice of the child programs. Since starting the Meeting with Children course in 2016, Lorri and Jon have worked to develop online programs and master classes. As time progresses we expect to expand the concepts of Meeting with Children and Youth further.

Meeting with Children: A Child Centred Approach

Duration

  • 30 hours total
  • 12.5 hours in live tutorial 17.5 hours in self-paced learning.

Description

  • In this course Dr Lorri Yasenik and Jon Graham explore the skills necessary to meet with post separation children and youth. The course is highly experiential providing many practice opportunities. The skills taught will add to the practitioner’s toolbox for work with children as well as work with parents who find it difficult to remain regulated in traditional ADR processes. Lorri, a child specialist and registered play therapist, family mediator and Jon a specialist in complex family mediation bring an eclectic skill set into this training.

Training Approach

  • Course is taught online over five weeks.
  • One 2.5-hour live tutorial per week. Self-paced learning including Practice-with Peers® between tutorials.

Entry Requirements

  • Required Family Mediator (FDRP), Lawyer, Mental Health Practitioner, Parenting Coordinator,
    Child Protection Worker. Other by decision from Lorri and Jon.

Meeting with Children

Meeting with Children in the Virtual Space

Duration

  • 15 hours total
  • 5 hours in live tutorial 10 hours in self-paced learning..

Description

  • The Meeting with Children Approach for children who are remote from the practitioner. This 15-hour workshop is for graduates of Meeting with Children Only.
  • Presenting adaptations of the Meeting with Children activities, the course includes webinars, video examples, tutorial, Practice-with Peers® sessions, and manual.

Training Approach

  • Course is taught online over three weeks.
  • One 2.5-hour live tutorial at week one and three. Self-paced learning.

Entry Requirements

  • Completion of the Meeting with Children Program.

Master Class: The Feelings Pie and Community Bears

Duration

  • 5 hours total
  • 2.5 hours in live tutorial 2.5 hours in self-paced learning.

Description

  • This Master Class teaches Meeting with Children graduates two new Activities to use with children as part of the Meeting with Children Approach.

Training Approach

  • Course is taught online over one week.
  • One 2.5-hour live tutorial and self-paced learning.

  • Completion of the Meeting with Children Program.
